Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence... Hebrews 4:16 While I was praying, simple conversation with God, I found myself asking for something. Again. I thought, “I am constantly making requests! Wouldn’t you think the Lord would get sick of that? I just waltz in, any time of the day or night I feel like it, and pray. I thank Him and praise Him, often ask for something and assume He is listening." Many years ago, as a mom of young children, I would try to stop and listen to my kids when they would come to me to ask, or tell, me something. I usually did, but not always. Our Father God made us for fellowship with Him. And yes, He is thrilled and delighted for us to come to Him, with requests, conversation, thanks, or just come to enjoy His presence. And yes, He listens. Always. Among the thousands of promises in the Bible are those which declare God hears us, and answers. A few are: Jeremiah 33:3 Call to me and I will answer you Psalm 17:6 I call to you, God, and you answer me. Listen to me now, and hear what I say. Psalm 6:9 The Lord has heard my cry for help; the Lord will answer my prayer. Psalm 91:15They will call to me, and I will answer them. There’s never a time the Lord won’t stop and give us His full attention. In fact, He is just waiting for us to 'waltz in'. That's good news. ©Sally I. Kennedy The Best of Irish Thursdays

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever. Hebrews 13:8 A few years back change was brewing in our home. We had enjoyed a season of peace and calm without any crises. However change was in the wind. Circumstances were stirring with my husband’s job. For a while it was a breeze, not a full gale hurricane. Everything is for a season, the good times as well as the bad times. Each change takes some of the old with it, yet brings something new. That’s always somewhat difficult for me. Change is certain, yes. But the unknown is still a little scary. In the Bible, we read that God is the same yesterday, today, and forever. In the book of Matthew (28:20), Jesus promises that the same faithful God who is with us today will be with us in the newness of tomorrow. We don’t have to be alone! That takes the fear out of it. I have to remind myself, sometimes daily, that when I feel anxious I have jumped into the future. Staying rooted in the moment will make anxiety flee. I need to ask the Lord to send an angel to hold my feet and ankles and help keep me grounded in the present. The book containing the wisdom of the ages, the Bible, says this: Do not be terrified; do not be afraid of them. The Lord your God, who is going before you, will fight for you (Deut. 1:29,30) Winds of change may continue to blow. Yet we cannot go anywhere God is not already there. That is good news. ©Sally I. Puffs of feathery snow, gently, silently floated down from heaven to earth. Coming from a tropical climate, I was mesmerized. It was thrilling to watch the awesome, magnificent sight. I smiled in my heart, and thought, “How intricate and beautiful God made the world…..for us.” Just outside the window was a large evergreen bough. It was interesting, that as the snow continued to fall and mound up on the branch, it never caused the branch to dip or bend. The evergreen was wearing it’s new “burden” lightly, as though it were not of 'the world’. There’s a place in the Bible where Jesus talks about this; He says to take His yoke on you, which is light, and easy…..not the heaviness of the world. (Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light. Matthew 11) We don’t have to carry around heavy things, carrying 'the world' on our shoulders. We weren’t meant to have stooped, sagging shoulders from bearing heavy cares and worries. In 1st Peter 5, it says, “Casting the whole of your care [all your anxieties, all your worries, all your concerns, once and for all] on Him, for He cares for you affectionately and cares about you watchfully.”. (AMP) We can wear the world as a garment of light, not as a cloak that suffocates and chokes. How wonderful that Jesus did / does that for us. That is very good news. ©Sally I.
